Fume Hoods and Enclosures Biological Safety Cabinets
Purifier Class I and HEPA Filtered Enclosures protect you and your laboratory environment.

  • Patented rear baffle with zones of perforations promotes horizontal laminar airflow to maximize containment
  • Upper containment sash foil, a small gap above the sash handle, bleeds air into the enclosure to direct
  • contaminants away from the operator’s breathing zone
  • Intrinsically-safe design
  • The positive pressure impeller is surrounded by a negative pressure plenum so that if a leak should develop, the unfiltered air is captured and refiltered

Ergonomic 10° angled sash allows a closer view, reduces glare and provides a more comfortable operating position than vertical sashes. The hinged sash pivots up and locks to a loading height of 20". Side seals help to keep contaminants contained.

Purifier Class I Enclosures protect the user from agents that require Biosafety Level 1, 2 or 3 containment but no product protection. These enclosures include an ultraviolet light that may be used in conjunction with surface disinfection to ensure thorough decontamination. The UV light has an interlocking protection panel to ensure that the light operates only when the enclosure is not in use, to avoid personnel exposure to UV rays.

Purifier HEPA Filtered Enclosures, which do not include a UV light, protect the user from hazardous chemical powders, dust and allergens in diverse applications ranging from screening suspicious mail to blending dry chemicals. They are an economical alternative to Class II biosafety cabinets when your applications do not require product protection.

For applications involving odor-generating materials, Purifier HEPA Filtered Enclosures may be outfitted with an accessory Trace Odour Carbon Filter to trap nuisance organic, formaldehyde or ammonia vapors. When connected to the accessory Canopy Connection and ducted outside to a remote blower or house exhaust, Purifier HEPA Filtered Enclosures may be used with fume-generating materials or agents that have been treated with toxic chemicals or radionuclides as an adjunct to research. These canopy-ducted enclosures have the added benefit of eliminating nuisance odors. Use of acids, which would corrode the internal blower within these enclosures, is prohibited. Contact Labconco for information on enclosures suitable for use with acids.
